Fighting off multiple attackers in my eyes is much easier than removing the garbage between most people’s ears. We as rational beings that have lots of knowledge about how the world should look like, but are really ignorant about how much we do not know. The arrogance we use to protect our limited understanding is our biggest downfall. Dealing with multiple attackers that are armed and really determined will exposes these myopic limitations in majority well trained fighters.
The onslaught of multiple attackers does not fit well with our current conceptual knowledge of fighting. Why should it? There is nothing glorious about dealing with a bunch of shit heads. Nobody really wins when facing multiple attackers and what use has marketers for such skills? The fight game (the ring) offers wonderful golden prizes, status, money and power whereas the survival game offers no such thing. Survival offers just a moment of freedom and a feeling of being fully energized and alive when it counts. Who cares if you get away safe, it is just another unbelievable story to tell you mates.
To acquire understanding and access to the survival response the real block is our focus on the fight game carrots, it is a huge handicap.
For most of us, knowledge turns to crap in a real-life threatening situation. As an example, a burning theatre – everyone panics and trample each other to death. The issue is, when facing the unknown our brains turn into shit, filled with expectations and too many solutions that do not fit immediate pressures. We are slave to what we are told by fast talking experts. Society traps us to think like other people. We think we see and understand, but who knows it is probably more a mental illusion and delusion.
So where do we go wrong? The human mantra, 'plan for the future, save your money, train hard--' sound approaches that caters for our rational brains and then it is sabotaged by our emotional crap and fears. We know by instinct we have to learn and be prepared. this works reasonably well for the up-and -coming competition that has clear aims to prove a point to the interested onlookers.
But this approach does not sync when facing a multiple attack/battle. You have to live in the moment, experiencing and owning your decisions and limitation in a blink of an eye. This is when the shit hits the fan, when the learnt shit does not fit the battle plan. Survival is paramount, when you alone have to make your first real-time decision.
Gee --- the question that should be should asked; what can you fit and do into a moment of time when facing five determined attackers?
Shit-- Shit -- Shit ... Too late for this understanding, “Necessity will be the mother of invention” in a survival situation.
It really is the unseen knives aiming for your heart, that is your real time problem. When you need to stay alive, you have no choice but to do something. This is a crazy answer, but only a fool will stop and claim abuse or sufferance. Gee – whoops: there is no second chance.
My advice is stop thinking for other people– this maybe deep – the real bullies are your trainer and mentors – they are filling you head with BS and fears and this is the reason people who are well trained fighters fail in real time survival situations. You have to think what you can do in a moment of time, not whole preplanned strategies. It sound alien and yet we do every day like crossing a busy street. It is like being in another world where you are free from other people's mental constructs and fearsome stories that crap-up your brain. How do you really know what will happen? You have never been there. Techniques are the fighters solution to build a picture in your head, better known as the crap filler.. I like to see how you would fit a perfect technique into a moment of time, where thinking time is almost non-existent during a multiple attack. This is what has to be be solves when facing multiple attackers.
So where are the skills to fight off multiple attackers?
A wise thing to realize is knowing that there are few experienced exponents who have trained for a true full-on multiple attack event. The main issues with fighters is their focus on skilling techniques, not what drives a person to act in a timely manner, in real time over and over again, which is what happens in a force one multiple attack.
Techniques may sound like the answer ....
Techniques do work well in a fighting ring.
But techniques have a very limited value when facing multiple attackers.
Why is this so ? The current fighting doctrine puts a lot weight on defeating one attacker especially the ground fighters. Instructors are like Politician in disguise happily peddling this view – and why not? Not to mention that it will take several several life-times to dig through the truck loads of technical BS out there.
There is a big difference between the fight game and (multiple attacker) survival game.
Fighters' operate in a different mental world to a person who has to survive. The critical aspect starts with believing in yourself, not what others tell you (The Socially Organized Statement). Today fighters are well-oiled fighting machine, an enhanced human being built on arrogance and ring reputation. With all that attention on doing well has to leave a big hole, a huge blind spot so easily found multiple attackers games.
The question to be asked, are you ready to experience the pressures of multiple attackers? Try the Corner Trap and yes it looks like a football game.
Its a given that you will stall if the pressure is great enough, then what do you do? whoops again- there is more to learn and it not a technique.
